Removing demo content

If you imported the demo and would rather start clean than edit placeholder marketing copy, this is the safe way to remove it.
Back up first. Removing demo pages deletes content. If you have edited any of the imported pages, read the warning in Demo content before continuing.

What “removing demo content” involves

There is no single “remove demo” button. The theme creates several things and you remove them in the right order so nothing is left broken.

Removing the pages safely

1

Decide what you actually want

Deleting Home and replacing it with your own front page is fine. Deleting the Contact page means your header’s secondary CTA button and the footer CTA link may point nowhere.
2

Fix your reading settings first

Go to Settings → Reading. If you delete the front page while it is still set as the front page, WordPress may serve a confusing error until you change it.
3

Delete the pages

Pages → All Pages, hover each page, and choose Trash. Using the trash rather than permanent delete gives you a safety net.
4

Repair the menu

Appearance → Menus → open your Primary Menu → remove items pointing at the deleted pages → Save Menu.
5

Check your CTA buttons

Customize → Vara SaaS → Layout → update the primary and secondary CTA URLs so neither points at a deleted page.
6

Empty the trash

Once you are satisfied, Pages → Trash → Empty Trash.

What the theme does automatically

Deleting a theme-created page clears the theme’s stored page ID for it, so the theme will not later try to apply an Elementor layout to a page that no longer exists.
If the deleted page was your static front page, show_on_front is reset to “Your latest posts” so the site keeps working rather than serving a missing page at the root URL.
If the theme finds leftovers from an older version using a vara- slug prefix that it can confirm it created, it removes them. It requires both the theme’s own origin meta and the slug prefix to match, so pages you made yourself are never touched.
Pages you created yourself are never removed. The theme only auto-deletes a page when both its own metadata and a vara- slug prefix match. Anything you wrote is yours to keep.

Starting over completely

If you want a truly clean slate — including the theme’s own page tracking.
1

Remove the Elementor layouts

Delete or trash the four pages. The Elementor data goes with them.
2

Reset your reading settings

Settings → Reading → Your homepage displays → Your latest posts → Save Changes.
3

Rebuild the menu

Appearance → Menus → create a fresh menu with only your real pages → assign it to Primary Menu.
4

Clear the theme's page references

If you installed via WP-CLI, remove the tracking options directly.
You rarely need to delete those options. The theme validates each stored ID against the database on use and ignores it if the page no longer exists. Only remove them if you are specifically troubleshooting stale references.

Re-running the import later

If you remove the demo and change your mind, run the import again from Appearance → Vara SaaS Setup. The theme will recreate the pages rather than duplicating them, because it checks for existing managed pages before creating new ones.
This will also reset your reading settings and refresh your primary menu items to match the demo set. If you have built a real menu, back it up first or recreate it afterwards.
